Required September 2022
We are a highly successful, community mixed comprehensive school with Teaching School status in a pleasant rural setting only 5 miles from the centre of Cambridge. We currently have around 1800 11-18 pupils on roll including our sixth form centre that opened in September 2011.
Our pupils are well motivated, staff morale is excellent and examination results at KS4 are outstanding: in summer 2019 the total grades at 9-7/A*-A were 48%, 9-4/A*-C were 87% with 83% of pupils achieving at least a grade 4 in English and maths. At KS5, 30% of pupils achieved A*/A grades. The school has consistently been rated by Ofsted as Outstanding over very many years; at the last full inspection we were rated as Outstanding in every measure.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher who is committed to practical, creative and innovative teaching and who has the skills to deliver Music and Music Technology from KS3-5. This position will suit a flexible and well-organised individual with a strong and practical musical background to teach across the 11-18 age-range up to and including music A-level and, ideally, music technology A-level. Strong piano/keyboard skills and a working knowledge of Logic and Sibelius software are highly desirable alongside a commitment to sustaining and developing the department’s extra-curricular offer.
The Music Department is a flourishing area of the school and a popular and practical subject with a good take-up at GCSE and A-level. A thriving performing arts culture sees around a dozen different clubs and ensembles meet weekly including a big band, orchestra and choir. There is at least one musical production every year and some of these have previously toured to the Edinburgh Fringe.
The purpose built accommodation includes two large practical rooms, a suite of 9 practice rooms and a dedicated Music ICT teaching room equipped with Mac computers. There is a separate performing arts studio and recording studio for 6th form teaching. The department has its own established team of instrumental teachers.
For further details and an application form please visit our website www.combertonvc.org.

Interviews to be held on Thursday 13th October 2022
