Further details about the role

The Performing Arts Faculty is a small team of Music and Drama teachers. We are situated in a purpose-built building with two specialist Music rooms, four practice rooms and a studio. We have a wide range of instruments, including keyboards, guitars, and drums amongst others. We also share instruments across the Trust for topics such as samba. One of our Music rooms is equipped with computers. The faculty staff work together as a team, and we welcome peripatetic teachers into the faculty throughout the week. Our curriculum aims to extend students’ practical experience to instil an appreciation of the music of different cultures and traditions. We believe Music lessons should provide students with the tools, knowledge, and enthusiasm to explore music and develop their confidence and resilience through acquiring and rehearsing practical skills across a range of instruments, both within a solo and ensemble setting.

All students in KS3 study Music for one hour per week. At KS4, we offer Music as a GCSE and A Level following the OCR specifications. In addition to this, we currently offer all students the opportunity to be involved in two school productions a year, a choir and peripatetic music lessons for keyboard, singing, guitar, drums, brass and woodwind. We hope to extend this offer with the appointment of a permanent Music teacher.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and this position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

All applicants must be able to provide documentation to prove their right to work in the UK.

The Pingle Academy is a successful and well-respected comprehensive school which became an academy in May 2017 as part of the de Ferrers Trust. We currently cater for 1429 students aged 11–19 and have been over-subscribed for the past five years. The academy enjoys an excellent reputation.

Our academy is truly inclusive and includes Enhanced Resource Sections for students with mild learning difficulties and students with more complex needs. In addition, we have our own alternative provision, which caters for a small number of students who find mainstream classes challenging. Our staff share responsibility for creating a safe and pleasant place to learn and work and are proud of our efforts to educate and care for all our students, whatever their abilities, to ensure that every student’s potential is fulfilled.

We are proud of our caring and inclusive community, and our values of WORK HARD, BE KIND, CHOOSE WISELY are present in all aspects of academy life.

In 2019, the academy enjoyed its best-ever results both at GCSE and A Level. In October 2021, OFSTED judged the academy as GOOD in all areas.

Our priority is to help parents/carers prepare their children for adult lives in a rapidly changing world. We aim to provide a broad and stimulating curriculum; we set high expectations for work and behaviour, and we encourage students to aspire to these standards with confidence.

We value our staff, ensuring that we look after and care for their wellbeing through professional development, mental health provision and supporting staff with their workload.
