Teacher of Music job summary
Grace College are looking to recruit a Teacher of Music who is passionate about the value of music and the arts in education. A teacher who will enthuse pupils to learn with a combination of great subject knowledge, musical skill, creative energy and dedication. This is an exciting time to join the Creative Arts team at Grace College, as we work collaboratively to develop music, drama and art. This role would suit a teacher at the beginning of their career, or an experienced teacher seeking a new challenge. To facilitate career development in the arts we offer Music, Drama, Art and Graphics A Level in our Associated Sixth Form based at Emmanuel College. We want students at Grace College to take every opportunity offered to develop a lifelong love for and enjoyment of the arts, understanding that their creative and artistic skills can create career opportunities with extended study.
We have high expectations for our students as they grow and develop, and all our staff provide important role models to them in terms of positive attitude, work ethic and diligence.
In this role you will:
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives
- Facilitate learning by establishing effective relationships with pupils
- Maintain organised learning resources, using your extensive music skills
- Create a positive, creative learning environment in the classroom
- Fully immerse yourself in the varied co-curricular and events programme at the college
- Develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children
- Assess and record progress and prepare pupils for national tests
- Link pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further, challenging and inspiring pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding
