Teacher of Music (Maternity Cover) job summary

Thornden School would like to appoint an inspirational and innovative Teacher of Music to cover a period of maternity leave for 4 days a week (not Wednesdays), initially for two terms. The Music department is a very successful department, following the Eduqas (WJEC) exam syllabus for GCSE, and seeking to make music accessible, enjoyable, and educational for all. In class, students are encouraged to perform, compose and listen to a wide range of musical styles from across the world. In addition to teaching music notation to lower school students, the department widely use electronic keyboards in our teaching, as well as percussion instruments, and computers linked to MIDI keyboards. We also use Mixcraft for recording and editing work in our specialist music block. At GCSE level, students are taught the core skills of performing, composing, listening and appraising in a practical and fully integrated manner.
