Teacher of Music (maternity cover) job summary

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and motivated Teacher of Music to join this vibrant department within the Performing Arts faculty until the end of this academic year. This post is open to NQT’s and experienced teachers who are able to teach across Key Stages 3 & 4. The school has an excellent reputation for Performing Arts Productions and the Music department also plays a very active role in the wider community and our extensive extra-curricular programme.

We are accredited with ‘World Class Schools’ status giving us recognition that we have moved beyond our ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted status and have improved student progress, aspiration and achievement to such an extent that our students rival those of the best schools’ nationally and internationally. Weatherhead High School is a large 11 to 18 oversubscribed girls’ comprehensive school with approximately 1540 students on roll. There is an excellent mixed Sixth Form with nearly 300 students. We have a PAN of 254 for each year group from Year 7 to 11 and the school of choice for girls in Wallasey and the surrounding area.

We were judged to be an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider in our recent inspection in November 2022. During the inspection, inspectors commented that ‘Weatherhead High School is a happy and friendly learning community. Pupils, students in the Sixth Form and staff are proud to belong to this school. Relationships between staff and pupils are strong.’
