Teacher of Music job summary
Millthorpe School is looking to appoint an inspirational and highly motivated teacher to join our music department. The successful candidate will be passionate about music and take a keen interest in research behind teaching methodologies in the classroom. Music is taught in all year groups and we require the successful candidate to teach across a full range of age and ability.
The music department is currently undergoing a full rebuild and refurbishment programme. In September the music department will have brand new rooms and facilities, with two newly built music suites. The music department offers a range of extracurricular activities, hosts well attended musical concerts during the year, and provides the music for our annual school production. Many students attend peripatetic music lessons offered by external tutors.
The music department consists of a full time Head of Department and one part time teacher (the advertised post). This post would suit an experienced teacher or a newly qualified teacher who is able to contribute to the department with input on teaching practice and extracurricular experiences for our students.
The post will provide an opportunity for a well-qualified and dynamic teacher to join a successful Music Department that is determined to excel, and to help the school in its journey from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’.
Please note – this is initially a Part Time (0.4 FTE), Fixed Term Contract for one academic year but may turn into a permanent post for the right candidate.
Interviews will be held during the week commencing 4 July 2022.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will require all successful applicants to undertake an enhanced criminal records check via the DBS.
