About this role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher of Music to join the department and further inspire our students, raise their aspirations and unlock their potential in all things musical. We believe the music curriculum is designed to simultaneously build pupil's technical expertise, develop their understanding of the way music is constructed and enable musical responses to become more sophisticated and nuanced as students get older. With your passion for music driving you, you will deliver high quality lessons for all of our students in Years 7, 8 & 9 along with those choosing to continue their music studies at GCSE and A -level where we study the Pearson Edexcel Music Course. Music lessons are taught in our two fully equipped bespoke music classrooms.The department organises and hosts a wide variety of performance opportunities for the students throughout the academic year.

To be successful you should be able to fulfil the following criteria:

  • QTS and a good honours degree in a related subject (ECTs are welcome)
  • Be passionate about learning and teaching
  • Demonstrate a passion for the subject, and the ability to teach Music across KS3, GCSE and A-Level
  • Have a sensitive attitude to students of all abilities and ages and the ability to meet the needs of the most able and those with Special Educational Needs
  • Be willing to go above and beyond to ensure students make great progress
  • Be committed to playing a part in the wider life of the school
  • Be committed to safeguarding children's wellbeing
  • Have a supportive and cooperative approach to colleagues
  • Have a willingness to continue learning and developing as a teacher
  • Have a reflective approach to your own practice and to the overall performance of the department
