Teacher of Music Part Time 0.8 job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Music teacher to grow and develop a curriculum tailored to our students' skills. Students at Grace are energetic and enthusiastic about all genres of music and, with a passionate subject specialist, students' talent and knowledge could be fostered and thrive. Key Stage 3 students at Grace Academy learn a diverse range of musical skills, including singing, use of musical technology and keyboard playing. They are introduced to concepts such as vocal range, melodies, harmonies, rhythm, pitch and general performance skills.

The Music department is part of the Arts Faculty which consists of Music, Physical Education, Design & Technology, Drama and Art. Within the department there is a Faculty Lead, Lead of PE, two teachers who are part of the Academy Leadership team, two who are Heads of Year and teaching staff within each area.

Thank you for your interest in this key role at Grace Academy Coventry. The successful applicant will pivotal in supporting the Academy in the next stage of its journey. We are currently on a journey towards excellence and we are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and passionate individual who will bring a range of experience to the Arts Faculty.

Grace Academy joined the TOVE Learning Trust in April 2019, we are a close knit family of schools and work together to grow together.

I joined the Academy in September 2019 and have had the pleasure of leading the Academy through a successful Ofsted inspection at the end of December 2019 where we were recognised as having good leadership and management and good personal development provision. We have also more recently has an Ofsted Remote Monitoring Inspection which also recognised the hard work and achievement of staff. This post is part of the next exciting stage in our journey to excellence.

At the centre of all we do is the focus of what is best for the students. My team and I pride ourselves on making decisions from a position of integrity. As a parent myself, I strongly believe that if it is not good enough for my children, then it is not good enough for Grace students. This is even more important in the current climate.

We have amazing students here at Grace who deserve the best possible life chances. We encourage students to be praised and recognised whilst at the same time being challenged to meet our expectations.

In order to support colleagues we have a full CPD programme for staff at all stages of their career both internally and externally. We understand the challenges of working in our profession and have an active Well-being Committee and Workload Committee who focus on promoting a healthy work life balance.
