Teacher of Music (part time will be considered) job summary

At Ebor Academy Filey we offer an exciting career choice and a real opportunity for giving ambitious teachers and leaders the chance to influence our school and its community for the better.

We are part of the North Yorkshire Opportunity Area that is prioritising improvements to education and numeracy and literacy outcomes, alongside a drive to recruit and retain high-quality, motivated teachers to the area. Teachers on the North Yorkshire Coast will have unique opportunities to engage in additional professional and leadership development through this programme, as well as access to fully-funded national professional qualifications

Ebor Academy Filey is a vibrant, successful 11-16 Academy and proud to serve the coastal communities around Filey. Over the last two years our school has been transformed under solid and sustained leadership – and we are now a host school to Teach First, a lead school within Ebor Academy Trust and a coaching school for Ambition Institute.

Many of our staff commute from both within the East Riding, North Yorkshire and across our coastal communities. As an inclusive school we have the highest aspiration for our students to achieve their very best and grow as individuals and as members of their community.

Staff development, creating a climate of independent learning and embedding a culture where teachers and support professionals can thrive and take risks with teaching and learning are all very much part of our school.

Our opportunity
We are looking to appoint a teaching colleague to join us as our new Teacher of Music. Although not essential the ability to also offer an additional subject would be welcomed.

As a smaller than average secondary Music plays an important part in our curriculum – and as a subject is popular and well resourced. Our department has its own purpose built and spacious block with a large classroom and 4 well-resourced practice rooms (2 with acoustic pianos).

As our new teacher you will bring your subject to life with access to a baby grand piano, 15 electric keyboards, 11 PCs running Sibelius Ultimate, Djembe drums and Samba drums to name but a few!
There are a number of students who have instrumental and singing lessons provided by the instrumental teaching service.

We are looking for a Teacher of Music who:
• Is passionate about teaching and has a creative and flexible approach for all key stages.
• Will model best practice teaching and learning across the department and support the development of quality teaching in the department.
• Will support, challenge and engage a diverse cohort of students, enriching their learning experience, maximising their potential and raising attainment
• Will play a key role in leading aspects of faculty CPD.
