Job description

Cavendish School wishes to appoint a dedicated and committed teacher as part of our Expressive Arts Faculty to deliver outstanding teaching across the school. You should have the drive and enthusiasm to be proactive with extra-curricular clubs and activities.

You will play a significant role in building on our current success, in terms of pupils’ learning experience, outcomes and enrichment opportunities.

We aim to provide all pupils with an engaging, challenging and intellectually stimulating curriculum which prepares them for success in examinations as well college, university and the workplace.

Essential educational requirements

•A degree in related subject
•A proven track record of recent and successful class teaching in mixed ability classes in appropriate key stage/s (or of successful training for NQTs)
•Proven track record in delivering ‘good’ or ’outstanding’ pupil progress (or the ability to be if an NQT)

Essential qualifications

•Qualified teacher status/newly qualified teacher
•Excellent subject knowledge for identified preferred subject

Essential skills and experience

The ability to provide appropriate levels of challenge so pupils make good progress and achieve beyond their potential. The ability to use assessment information effectively to plan next steps, to secure high standards of behaviour by motivating, encouraging and engaging pupils. To develop in pupils the skills to work independently and collaboratively. Enable pupils to develop self-esteem and respect for others. To create a well organised, stimulating learning environment, to work as part of a team. To maximise pupil performance and initiate intervention strategies as appropriate, to relate to and communicate effectively with parents and carers and to encourage their active participation in the educational process. A good understanding of current theory and practice of best practice in teaching and learning. Thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum and an understanding of SEN/Safeguarding issues. Effective strategies for maintaining high standards of discipline.
