Teacher of Music job summary
The Fulham Boys School is looking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Music who will teach an ambitious Music programme to stretch and challenge our most able musicians while encouraging musical enjoyment for all. We are looking for a strong performer, in the classroom and on the stage, a sense of imagination and a commitment to the role, who has a clear ambition and enthusiasm for Music, and will be fully involved in the life of the school.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to lead on the Music curriculum throughout the school; the ideal candidate will have the ambition to become a Head of Department within the next 2-3 years.
The successful applicant also needs to have a love of Music of many different forms, a desire to encourage our boys to perform Music and to respond to it with enjoyment and understanding and motivation to work with pupils and young people. S/he will be recognised as an outstanding musician and teacher: dynamic and imaginative. S/he will lead by example to motivate and work with others.
At FBS we are passionate about the Arts and believe that Music is essential to the development of a child's character. All students at Key Stage 3 study Music through the curriculum and students are able to select the subject for both GCSE and A Level. Within the school we believe that Music must also exist outside of the classroom. Boys singing in assemblies, school performances, carol services and public events ensures that the subject is not only promoted but also valued.
Our state of the art facilities have ensured that the department is fully furnished. Classrooms, computer suites, breakout spaces and a recording studio are utilised by the whole school to ensure that students can both learn and thoroughly enjoy the Music provision at the school.
As a school we are passionate about the professional development of all staff. Our commitment to the successful candidate is that we will do all we can to ensure that their professional development needs are met.
The school is located in the heart of Fulham. As a school we are committed through co-curricular, sport and departmental lessons that London is seen as our classroom; we believe that our extended day and our state of the art facilities in central London equips our young men to thrive.
