Further details about the role

We are looking to appoint a permanent full time Teacher of PE, teaching primarily boys PE across KS3 and KS4.

We are a large faculty of friendly, enthusiastic and committed PE teachers who all share a very similar vision about the purpose and ethos of PE in a secondary school. We strive to have enjoyable and engaging lessons that encourage as many students as possible to continue with their learning and development outside of lesson time.

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs that are open to all students and are extremely well attended; many students go on to represent our school in competitive fixtures. The person appointed would be keen to contribute to this extra-curricular provision and ideally would be able to complement and improve an already strong wider curriculum offer. We would welcome applications from candidates who have a particular interest in rugby.

Farlingaye is a high-achieving comprehensive school with over 1900 students. It has a well-established reputation in the county of Suffolk and in the community, situated in the picturesque town of Woodbridge, approximately 10 miles north of Ipswich. We are proud to be part of an exciting and developing local Trust, EAST.

Potential candidates are encouraged to visit the school, and will be warmly welcomed. As we are about to enter our Easter holiday period, requests for visits should be made for week commencing Monday, 15th April and by Friday, 19th April at the latest. Please contact Linda Marsh, HR Manager. In addition, candidates can contact Peter Smith, Headteacher via email over the Easter break. Please refer to the attached job booklet for contact details.

Closing Date: 9.00 am on Tuesday, 23rd April 2024

Interview Date: Tuesday, 30th April 2024

Should you wish to discuss the job role in further details, please contact Peter Smith, Headteacher or Kate Alexander - Head of Faculty.

Commitment to safeguarding

Farlingaye High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share and adhere to this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to provide satisfactory references and undertake an Enhanced Check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
