Required for September 2019
(One year post)
Longbenton is a successful 11-18 school who are looking to appoint a Teacher of PE from September 2019. We are over-subscribed for September and the school roll continues to grow. As a result of this and other late staffing changes we have also been left needing additional capacity in MFL (KS3 French or Spanish) as well as humanities (KS3 history, geography and PSHE). This is a really good opportunity for someone to join us at a key point in our development and be part of something innovative, challenging and rewarding at a school that is inclusive, comprehensive in its intake and a focal point of the local community.
If successful, you will be joining a committed curriculum leader in PE who has raised standards and is determined to continue to develop the quality of teaching in the department and improve learning outcomes for all learners. This is an important appointment for our school, the main responsibilities for which are set out in the applicant’s pack which you will find on our school website, www.longbenton.org.uk.
The successful candidate will be required to teach across the age and ability range of KS3 and 4 for games PE and KS3 in some classroom based subjects. Above all, we are looking for someone who is, or has the potential to be, an excellent teacher, including in the classroom beyond PE. In return you will work in a very supportive environment with pupils who want to learn and a staff who are keen to collaborate and develop their practice.
We run a great number of successful extra-curricular events, and as such the successful candidate to get involved in the whole life of the school. Longbenton offers the successful candidate a whole-hearted commitment to professional learning that places individual development at the heart of its ethos.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon Monday 15 July 2019 with interviews either on Wednesday 17 or Thursday 18 July.
Longbenton is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
Commitment to safeguarding
Longbenton High School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
