Teacher of PE and Science job summary

We are looking to recruit a Teacher of PE and Science to:
• Develop, plan and deliver effective and high quality learning experiences for all students.
• Be accountable for the learning and achievement of all students following the courses they teach.

Physical Education Department Information

The Physical Education Department is well established and highly regarded within the academy with a good track record of success. We are strongly committed to making further improvements and wish to strengthen an already excellent team. There are 2 dedicated Physical Education classrooms with an interactive whiteboard in which KS4 and KS5 GCSE, BTEC and A level lessons are taught. We have a full size 3G Astro turf pitch, a full size sports hall, an activity studio, fully equipped fitness suite and a dance studio.
The core PE curriculum at KS3 and KS4 covers a broad and balanced range of activities. In addition to the core curriculum, students have the option to study examined courses in PE at both KS4 and KS5. The Physical Education department strongly believes in making the subject accessible, engaging and relevant. As a result, we have an extensive extra-curricular programme.

Science Department Information

The science department at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy are a vibrant, friendly team of dedicated subject specialists. The departmental staff have excellent working relationships with each other and a history of supporting and working with ITT providers and ECTs. Our mission it is to inspire and nurture a love of science in all of our students. We are a fully resourced department with seven large fully equipped laboratories, including SMARTBoards and desktop PCs. Two full time experienced technicians are the heart of our dynamic team, assisting staff with the day-to-day delivery of excellent science lessons. We offer a broad curriculum from KS3 to KS5, including A levels and BTEC Applied Science, and enrichment opportunities enhance this curriculum offer. This is an exciting environment in which to work and the team are always looking to enhance their skills, creativity and competencies in the teaching and learning of science.
