What skills and experience we're looking for

We wish to appoint an excellent teacher to join our successful P.E. department. Our diverse Physical Education provision allows all students to enjoy and succeed in a range of physical activity whilst improving their health and well-being. We firmly believe Physical Education develops confidence and athletic competencies in our students so that the physical activities become a central part of their lives, both in and out of school. It allows our students to develop their practical performance, creative and leadership skills.

Studying Physical Education at a higher level can help students break into careers in coaching, teaching, personal training, and diet and nutrition advisory roles in the future. Across Key Stage 3, our students follow a curriculum which is innovative and challenging and our aim is to develop students’ abilities to the highest level. At Key Stage 4 we follow the Edexcel specification for GCSE and VCERT Health and Fitness. Performance across both qualifications have historically showna track record of good results.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to our work and benefit from an excellent environment, where teachers are encouraged to progress their careers with us. Our state-of-the-art building ensures that our students and staff have the best learning environment in which to achieve. SJT is a very positive community, with our recent staff survey showing that over 93% of our staff enjoy coming to work and are proud to be part of our school. At SJT we view the professional development of all staff as a priority and our innovative ‘Learn Together’ initiative enables all staff to be on our outstanding teacher programme.
