The role of a teacher at Hartford Church of England High School is to contribute to raising standards of achievement and attainment through supporting and embracing the ethos of the school. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of curriculum planning, teaching and behaviour management. They will ensure the standard of education that students receive continually evolves and improves to meet the needs of all children in their lessons. They will have the highest aspirations for the attitudes to learning of all students, ensuring every young person achieves the best possible outcomes. 

 A teacher at Hartford Church of England High School will be highly motivated and innovative with an ability to enthuse, encourage and inspire staff and young people alike. Prior to their appointment at Hartford Church of England High School, teachers will have gained skills, knowledge and experience in their subject specialism(s). They will have outstanding communication skills possessing the ability to effectively enthuse and challenge young people in equal measure.  Good teamwork, the highest of standards, determination and resilience will have been at the core of their success in their education and/or career to date. These skills will be at the heart of their role as teacher at Hartford Church of England High School in the future.

We are delighted to welcome applications for the permanent role of Teacher of Girls’ Physical Education at Hartford Church of England High School.  Our school is a great place to work! We have brilliant students, talented and committed staff and supportive parents. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in June 2023, demonstrated that we are a good and improving school and our ambition is to make Hartford Church of England High School an outstanding place to learn and work.     

It is an exciting time to join our school! Our PAN has increased to 240 in each year group and, having been graded Good in all areas by Ofsted at the end of the last academic year, we are now keen to develop the provision for our young people even further.  We have a brilliant team of Curriculum Leaders who teach in some superb, bespoke facilities. 

Hartford Church of England High School’s Physical Education department provides all students with a broad and balanced curriculum in a safe and welcoming environment. It is an exciting time for PE at Hartford Church of England High School as we are a leading sports establishment, as well as the hub site for the Vale Royal School Sport Partnership. We aim to teach students how to lead a healthy lifestyle and to reach their full potential in all activities.

Students have 2 hours of timetabled PE a week in line with the government’s target but, we hope to provide students with the opportunity to take part in at least 5 hours of PE and sport both in and out of the curriculum.

The curriculum comprises of a range of activities such as; Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Health and Fitness, Hockey, Netball, Outdoor and Adventurous Activities, Rounders, Rowing, Rugby, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball.

The provision in our extra-curricular programme is developing and as well as providing traditional team sports we also provide students with the opportunity to develop in Badminton, Dance, Darts Gymnastics, Table Tennis, and many more sports during breakfast time, lunchtime and after-school clubs. Through the School Sport Partnership we are developing links with local community sports clubs and ensure that we work with safe and high quality coaches.

Our teams compete to a high level in local leagues, while we also successfully run additional ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams. We also encourage our gymnasts and dancers to present their talents in the annual Gym and Dance Display and we hold dance productions.

The Department runs multi-skills holidays right across Europe and the UK, Ski Trips to numerous European resorts and we have ran successful football tours to Barcelona in 2008 and to Milan in 2010, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. We also have a Year 7 Football tour to Ellesmere College, competing against some of the best schools in the Country. We hold workshops from professional dance companies and have several trips to see dance works in theatres and trips to see high level sporting action including the Netball Super League and Premiership Football fixtures.

Over the years, we have developed very strong links with the local sporting community and have enabled our students to progress into these local clubs to further develop their sporting CV. Our links include Northwich and Winnington Park Rugby Clubs, Northwich Sapphires Netball, Northwich and Hartford Cricket Clubs, Hartford Golf Club, Vale Royal Athletics, Northwich Basketball, Cheshire Cricket, England Handball, Hartford Football Club, Liverpool Football Club, Port Vale Football Club and Stoke City Football Club

Hartford Church of England High school prides itself on its state-of-the-art sports facilities which include a 4-badminton court Sportshall, full FA regulation 3G football pitch, full Fitness Suite and Dance studio, 3 tennis court Dome facility and alongside this we have 3 grass football pitches, 1 grass rugby pitch and a multi-sport all weather pitch.
