We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, energetic and dynamic Teacher of Physical Education, to join our well established department. Your commitment to education, together with your passion for Physical Education, will enable you to inspire and motivate students across the age and ability range.

There is an opportunity for some PE management responsibility for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate; however, this is not an essential requirement of the post.

Physical Education
Physical Education is a popular and high achieving subject in the College with a large uptake at both GCSE and Advanced Level. Our specialist facilities include extensive playing fields, resurfaced hard court areas, a six tennis court Astroturf, a gymnasium and a sports hall. In addition, our facilities include a fully equipped fitness suite, two subject specific classrooms and a community sports reception area. We currently teach core Physical Education to Years 7-11 as well as GCSE and Advanced Level Physical Education courses. From September we are excited to be introducing an additional Level 2 course Cambridge National Sport Science.
The department continually strives to offer a curriculum that is truly engaging for all students. We aim to deliver a learning experience which allows all students to be confident in taking part in physical activity as well as achieving their highest standard of performance. Our extensive extra-curricular programme enables individuals and teams to succeed at regional level and beyond, we would welcome applications from individuals who wish to support us developing and growing this element of school life.

Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school. It comprises of two distinct and specialist sites. Our Thurston Campus, for students from Year 7 to Year 11 is situated four miles east of Bury St Edmunds. Thurston Sixth; Beyton Campus is located in the nearby village of Beyton, offering a bespoke centre of excellence for students in Year 12 and Year 13.
