What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher for January 2024 who has a keen interest in teaching across the curriculum. The appointed person will be confident teaching a range of subject areas. You will have an understanding of the expectations and ethos of a highly academic school and an ability to challenge and motivate students to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will have a passionate belief in the power of sport and PE to change lives are essential.

To be an enthusiastic and committed teaching practitioner who will inspire students to achieve the very best through their leadership and practice.
To provide high quality teaching and provide a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all teachers and teaching assistants.
To support the development and engagement in sport across the Academy; contributing to the team effort to put on extra-curricular activities which engage all learners regardless of ability.
To ensure there is quality first teaching, effective learning and high standards of achievement and behaviour across the academy
To develop the teaching, learning and assessment
To ensure all teaching standards are met which will lead to successful outcomes for all students at St Paul’s Academy in terms of spiritual and moral growth, progress and achievement, behaviour and attitudes and personal development.
To support the catholic ethos of the academy and support inclusion of all.

Responsibilities:
To liaise with the other members of the department to ensure continuity and progression
To assist in the preparation, implementation and regular review of schemes of work, that provide a well coordinated programme of study and sporting development, that embed the National Curriculum and ensures pupils can make appropriate progress according to their sporting ability
Opportunities to incorporate SMSC education are seized at all times
To teach, KS3 and KS4 Physical Education as required by the Head of PE
To prepare and provide a PE curriculum and sporting activities appropriate to each year group and ability range
To prepare, set and mark homework when/as appropriate for pupils in accordance with the School’s Assessment for Learning Policy
To monitor standards of sporting achievement, ensuring that assessment within the department is regular and informative in accordance with the School’s Assessment for Learning Policy
To assist in the teaching and supervision of a full range of extra-curricular sporting activities including after school fixtures, tournaments, and events
To be committed to providing high quality experiences for pupils of all abilities
To foster positive attitudes, teamwork and leadership through physical activities
To establish a culture of endeavour, participation and engagement
