What skills and experience we're looking for
We require a Teacher of Performing Arts to continue the development of this subject in the Academy.
St Augustine Academy has a thriving Performing Arts hub and is committed to promoting musical and performing arts excellence for all children.
The post will involve teaching Music and Drama to enhance the delivery of Performing Arts including school performances and liaison with local primary schools.
You will be working with individual music tutors offering bespoke music lessons to students. You will also have the opportunity to lead and take part in our performing arts shows.
The post would suit an experienced teacher or enthusiastic ECT whohas the ability to teach music as well as drama.
What the school offers its staff
The music department at St Augustine Academy has exceptional facilities. We moved into our purpose built music area in 2014. The music department comprises of two large teaching rooms. Room 1 is a dedicated keyboard/ICT suite and room 2 is a larger teaching room with sufficient space for orchestral rehearsals/choir. Room 2 also has a purpose built recording studio with two large MAC’s and interactive teaching resources. We have three large practice rooms. Each practice room has its own piano, mirrors (for singing) and CCTV for monitoring students. We currently have 16 PC’s which each have Sibelius 7 and MixCraft installed. We also have a large mixing desk/PA, along with interactive teaching resources available. In addition to these resources we have a large collection of percussion plus melodic xylophones and 35 individual glockenspiels. We have an entire class set of classical guitars and ukuleles, 3 drum kits, 2 Clavinovas in each teaching room. We have approximately 10 set of djembes and a sitar and harmonium. There is a new Yamaha grand piano in the main hall.
Students study a range of GCSE qualifications or equivalent.
