Teacher of Performing Arts job summary
The Performing Arts department comprises of 4 full-time and 2 part-time teachers including a Curriculum Leader of Drama and Performing Arts as well as a Music Technician. We work collaboratively as a team to support each other with the demands of our work and our wellbeing.
The Performing Arts department offers a broad and ambitious curriculum offering an enriching experience in both Music and Drama. As well as an engaging KS3 curriculum, we offer GCSE and BTEC Music and GCSE Drama. We are now also offering a KS5 course in Music Production and are looking to start an A Level Drama course starting in 2025. Like the Academy as a whole, our recent GCSE and BTEC results in Music and Drama saw students making excellent progress overall with positive P8 scores across both disciplines.
Our facilities at Aylesbury Vale Academy are excellent; boasting 2 Drama studios and a Dance studio and 3 Music classrooms all with suites of iMacs. Our enrichment offer is every growing and we have a healthy uptake within our Extra Curricular provision. We have regular productions including a winter drama production and an annual summer musical amongst others. Opting for Performing Arts subject at KS4 can sometimes result in smaller, closely-knit cohorts providing an opportunity for personalised learning support from teachers and nurturing a genuine passion for Music and Drama.
The successful applicant will be an individual who embodies a genuine passion for learning, possesses robust interpersonal skills, demonstrates resilience, excels as a teacher and is able to teach across both subjects of Music and Drama to a good standard.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children will be reflected throughout the recruitment process and the successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and an online screening check.
