What skills and experience we're looking for
The Grey Coat Hospital is seeking to recruit an outstanding teacher into a very successful and high performing PE department. We are looking for someone who will:
- be an enthusiastic, inspiring and creative teacher
- have excellent subject knowledge
- be able to commit and contribute to the continuing success of the department and the school
- be able to, effectively and confidently, teach two specialisms in the subject. Experience in swimming and trampolining is strongly welcomed but not essential.
A strong commitment to an extensive and flourishing extra-curricular sports programme is essential.
What the school offers its staff
The Grey Coat Hospital, founded in 1698, is a Church of
England school for girls aged eleven to eighteen with a mixed Sixth Form. The
historic foundation of the school and its current ethos are rooted in a
confident and generous Christian faith and practice, which welcomes students
and staff of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Students have the opportunities to compete and excel in a variety of sporting competitions including English/London Schools Athletics, Middlesex Cricket competitions, National Trampolining competitions and other local competitions including Netball and Basketball. The Grey Coat Hospital Football team is part of the Inter-school League where they achieve regular success. Three of our students were recently presented to the Queen at Buckingham Palace for their work in the 'Football Goals' women's empowerment initiative.
The school has many talented individual sportswomen who we support in their quest for representational honours. Our alumni include the international cricketer Ebony Jewel-Rainford MBE; GB Heptathlete Phyllis Agbo, and current students are representing GB teams in golf and gymnastics
The Grey Coat Hospital, when last inspected, was judged to be ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED in October 2022. In 2020, the School achieved ‘excellent’ in the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. We are proud of our ethos of continued self-improvement, which characterises every aspect of our culturally diverse school. The school is committed to building on our passion for excellent teaching and learning as well as continuing to place an emphasis on our language specialism and international ethos.
