What skills and experience we're looking for

An opportunity has arisen for a highly effective and inspirational Teacher of PE to join our team. John Hanson Community School is a successful, over-subscribed 11-16 community school, rated Good by OFSTED. We have a strong tradition of offering our students opportunities beyond the classroom/sports fields with fixtures and sports trips to enhance our students’ experiences. The examination results in PE have consistently been well above the national average.

The successful candidate will:

  • Specialise in either Football or Rugby
  • Have strong subject knowledge of BTEC Tech award in Sport
  • Need to commit to extra-curricular activities
  • Be keen to take part in sports tours
  • Enjoy working as part of a vibrant team, have good organisation and communication skills
  • Embrace school life and nurture a sense of belonging to the school community
  • Ability to teach second subject desirable

Location and History

John Hanson Community School is a thriving, mixed gender 11-16 community school in South West Andover, Hampshire, with almost 1000 students. The school has a rich history, dating back to 1582, and was previously known as Andover Free School and Andover Grammar School. In 1974 the school was renamed John Hanson School in honour of its founder, and moved to the current site on Floral Way in 2001.
