TLR opportunity for Second in Department

What skills and experience we're looking for

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and able Teacher of PE to join our dynamic and successful department. Our main sports are rugby, hockey, cricket, basketball and athletics. We are ideally looking for a hockey specialist to continue our success in this sport however specialisms in rugby and/or athletics would also be considered for the role. A passion for sports science at both GCSE and A Level PE would be an advantage.

There may also be an opportunity for a leadership role within the department for the right candidate who is looking to develop their career progression. However, this does not rule out ECTs, from whom an application would also be welcome. Applications from those wishing to contribute to other aspects of school life outside the classroom are particularly welcome.

The PE department is a highly successful group which ensures both mass participation and excellence. Over 600 boys represent the school at sport every year with competition at district, county and national level. Recent notable success has been winning the English Schools Intermediate Boys Track and Field Athletics Cup with the school representing England at the World School Athletics Championships in Croatia the following year. More recently the U15 rugby team won the 2022 National Vase at Twickenham and the U18 Hockey side narrowly lost in the Tier 4 National final in Nottingham.

This is an exciting role for someone looking to apply their hockey specialism, as the school looks to expand its provision in that sport both at KS3 and KS4 whilst also venturing into creating a senior hockey academy at 6th form. There is also an opportunity to input or lead our PE High Performance Programme for those with a passion for elite sport and strength conditioning.
