We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of science who can specialise in physics ideally up to A level. Physics is a popular and high achieving department, with 3 large groups at A level and 60 students each year taking Triple science at GCSE. We are looking for a teacher who has the potential and ambition to be outstanding, and who can inspire and challenge students to achieve the highest levels. This post is suited towards an NQT or an experienced teacher.
The Blue Coat School:
• was judged to be outstanding in all areas by OFSTED 2011-12
• has a record of attainment and achievement at GCSE which is consistently significantly above national average
• has a large, thriving and oversubscribed Sixth Form
• has a happy, positive ethos, with clear expectations and boundaries: students enjoy their learning and are eager to do their best
• is located in Oldham town centre with excellent transport links to Manchester / South Manchester e.g. 30 mins travel time by either car or metro link
The Blue Coat School is part of the Cranmer Education Trust which consists of The Blue Coat School, an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ school, two primary schools – East Crompton Saint George’s and Mayfield Primary, both of which have been judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted and the Manchester Nexus School Centered Initial Teacher Training school. This is an exciting time for the Trust as Mayfield is growing from one form to two form entry, St Anne’s Academy in Middleton join us in March 2021, and we will be opening a new secondary school in Oldham in 2022 for 1,200 pupils.

We are very proud of our school, which attracts students from across Greater Manchester and beyond. It first opened in 1834. Our founder, Thomas Henshaw, was a committed Anglican who left a bequest to fund a school which would provide education for the orphaned boys of the parish.

Blue Coat is grounded in tradition and history, and is evolving and forward looking. Our historic campus has been restored and developed extensively; our students enjoy picnic lunches in front of a Grade II listed building but their learning takes place in superb 21st century classrooms, laboratories and studios.
