What skills and experience we're looking for

i. This is a permanent, full-time appointment (part time available for the right candidate) effective from 28th April 2025, with a salary payable from MPS1-UPS3. Applications are welcome from teachers at any stage in their career including Early Career Teachers.

ii. The successful applicant will be required to teach Physics throughout the age range. They will also have responsibility for a form and deliver their fortnightly form period.

iii. We are seeking to appoint a committed & enthusiastic teacher who enjoys working as a member of a team and is constantly seeking ways in which they can improve on their current practice. A positive attitude towards the use of IT is essential. The successful applicant will have good self-organisational skills, a sound knowledge and understanding of health & safety requirements, be a competent and confident user of IT and able to work independently as well as a member of a team.

iv. Physics is taught as a separate science from Year 8 and all students study GCSE Physics. The subject is one of the most popular at A-Level with three classes in each of years 12 & 13. The post holder is line managed by the Subject Leader for Physics. Large numbers of students go on to thrive at A-level in a well-respected and supportive department.

v. There are nine dedicated science laboratories and a science staff room where all science staff have a desk. All staff receive a school laptop for work use. Each science (Biology, Chemistry & Physics) has its own technician and prep room.

vi. Applicants must include on the application form the names and contact details of two referees one of whom must be their most recent employer. vii. The school takes its responsibilities towards student safeguarding as a paramount concern. All candidates called for interview can expect to be asked questions with regard to student safeguarding and well-being while the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS) check.

viii. The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Thursday 30th January 2025 with interviews scheduled to take place week commencing 3rd February 2025
