Teacher of Politics/Humanities

Contract: Full time/Part time, permanent

Salary: MPS / UPS + Fringe

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Politics who is dynamic, enthusiastic and ambitious. The successful applicant will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who is passionate about inspiring our students. You will be a team player who works collaboratively with colleagues. The ability to teach Business or Humanities subjects would be an advantage but not essential.

Politics is a thriving (and growing) subject at A level. It is one of the top five subjects chosen by students going on to University. The department is well-resourced and achieves excellent results. The Politics department lead on school initiatives to widen political debate including activities and assemblies during UK Parliament Week, lead Debate Club and run a trip to Parliament. Politics is also currently taught on rotation to Year 9 as part of an ‘Awe and Wonder’ programme which offers a great opportunity to expose younger students to the subject.

The successful applicant will be:

  • Very well qualified to deliver to A Level curriculum for Politics

  • Qualified to deliver KS3 & KS4 Humanities Subjects (History, Geography, PRS)

  • An excellent communicator who is able to meet deadlines

  • A reflective practitioner who is willing to take an active role in the extracurricular life of the department and the wider life of the school

  • A strong team player with a "can do" attitude

  • Passionate about the success of students, the department and the school
