What the school offers its staff
South Craven School, supported by South Craven Academy Trust since May 2011, is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school situated in a semi-rural location on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with easy access to Leeds, Bradford and Greater Manchester. South Craven achieves strong results at both GCSE and A level and has an excellent vocational programme.
Learning is placed firmly at the heart of the South Craven School community. Our main priority is to ensure our students have the best opportunities for success and the highest possible aspirations for the future. We are very proud of our excellent reputation in our local community, recognising our responsibility to provide young people with the skills and qualities to respond to the challenges of a fast-changing world.
Due to growth in numbers, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Performance faculty for an enthusiastic, innovative teacher to join the team as a Teacher of Production and Performing Arts. The Performance Faculty is a highly successful faculty with strong extra-curricular provision which include annual whole school musicals, band showcases, dance clubs, national dance competitions, choir and residential trips.
The Performance Faculty has state of the art performance facilities which include a raked theatre with full lighting and sound equipment, a mirrored sprung floor dance studio, drama space with full lighting rig, recording studio, music rehearsal rooms plus additional rehearsal classrooms. We have a lot of successes with students continuing their studies in the Performing Arts after South Craven to the stage and screen and beyond. We would like the new candidate to also encourage this progression. We have exam groups from Year 10 to Sixth Form and have a record of outstanding results. As a faculty we are proud that every student can access our curriculum and we try to instil a love for the subject in all and would love our new candidate to do the same.
