Teacher of Psychology job summary

Malmesbury School requires a dynamic, enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher of Psychology to join the Science Faculty and work closely with another experienced Psychology teacher. The ability to teach Psychology at A level is essential. NQTs are encouraged to apply.

The school occupies a modern building with a suite of laboratories built around a faculty office and prep rooms. There is also a specialist room for the teaching of Psychology. All labs have an interactive whiteboard or Clevertouch screen and computer. We have large numbers of students studying at least one science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology) at A-level. A Level Psychology uptake is very strong with three classes in Year 13 and three in Year 12 from September 2021. In 2018 the school was awarded the Platinum Science Mark, which recognises the outstanding work of the Science Faculty. The faculty has a very successful YouTube Channel and a Facebook page which we encourage you to visit. Staff have easy access to high quality CPD such as subject specialist training and the Outstanding Teacher Programme through the Avon Teaching School Alliance.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this obligation. In September 2014 we were designated a Teaching School. This is an excellent opportunity for professional development in a very supportive and caring school. This post would be suitable for a highly competent NQT or a teacher with experience and a proven track record of success.

At Malmesbury School our vision is to be a happy, caring and excellent community. We are proud to be a truly comprehensive school providing an education of the highest quality for all the students within Malmesbury and the surrounding area.
