What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a forward thinking R.E. teacher to join our new, dynamic department, who can deliver high quality lessons which will allow our students to develop the skills, understanding and knowledge needed to become informed and open minded citizens who excel in their R.E. learning and will develop a true passion and love for the subject.

A TLR may be available for the right candidate.

You would be part of a dedicated and supportive team whose primary focus is the implementation of R.E. across all Key Stages (from Year 7 to Upper Sixth). You would also be involved in the development and evaluation of current schemes of work and would be given the opportunity to contribute to the continuing development of the department as we build and grow.


Subject Knowledge and Understanding

1. Have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and specifications for examination courses

2. Keep up-to-date with research and developments in pedagogy in the subject area.

3. Contribute to the effective use of resources.

4. Keep up-to-date with the use of technology to enhance delivery and student access to the subject.

Professional Standards and Development

1. Be a role model through personal presentation and professional conduct.

2. Establish effective working relationships.

3. Be prepared to be involved/lead on enrichment activities, after school clubs/visits.

4. Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of teachers’ professional duties as set out in the current STPCD and teachers responsibilities relating to all current legislation

5. Liaise with parent/carers/agencies with responsibility for students’ education and welfare.

6. Be familiar with and implement relevant requirements of the current SEN Code of Practice, DDA and Access to Work.

7. Consider the needs of all students, especially those who have SEN; are gifted and talented; are not yet fluent in English (EAL).
