What skills and experience we're looking for

The Saint John Henry Newman Catholic School are seeking to appoint a qualified Religious Education teacher who has specialist subject knowledge through degree and/or industry. They must be able to to teach Religious Education (RE) from KS3 through to KS5.

An opportunity has arisen for a teacher of Religious Education to join our very successful school from September 2023. The successful applicant will be able to teach RE across Key Stages 3 and 4 with dedication and enthusiasm and there is the opportunity to teach KS5 for the right candidate. You will work well as part of a collaborative team and will be committed to sustaining improvements in the teaching and learning of RE. You will be joining a cohesive, innovative, professional and highly effective team of teaching specialists.

The Saint John Henry Newman School is a popular 11-18 mixed Catholic comprehensive school in Stevenage, and is a member of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust. The school serves the Catholic community across north Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and as far south as Hatfield, with pupils from more than 25 different parishes. It has an excellent reputation; it is heavily oversubscribed and there are continuing interest lists for all year groups. The roll is currently approximately1600, including 400 in the Sixth Form. The school has benefitted from considerable investment in its buildings, including a new £3.5 million Sports and Performing block (The Pavilion) and a substantial new build programme to replace our main building and Art block.

Since its foundation in 1987, the school has developed a reputation for excellent educational standards combined with unique opportunities to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
