Teacher of Religious Education (part time hours considered) job summary

The RE Department at Bishop Milner Catholic College consists of an aspirational team of colleagues who are experts in their field. The spiritual, pastoral, social and academic needs of the students in our care is at the centre of all we do. We engage and collaborate on a variety of levels with local Catholic Primary and Secondary schools within our MAC in a range of activities and are continuously improving links with our local parishes.

Within the wider school community, the RE Department remains firmly at the centre in ensuring that, in partnership with SLT and the Head of School, the Catholic life and mission of our Catholic community is ever present and ever developing.

The ideal Religious Education Teacher:

  • Experience or starting to gain experience of teaching Religious Education through the 11-16 age range.
  • Successful or developing leadership and management in the classroom
  • Teaching experience at secondary level
  • Involvement in or wish to be involved in extra-curricular activities
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Degree level or above, qualified to teach Religious Education
  • Set high professional standards
  • Leads by example
  • Sets high expectations for attitude and behaviour
  • Positive about innovation and creative approaches
  • Open and communication focussed
  • Accepting of student opinion and using their views to inform practice
  • People centred: caring and supportive of individuals
  • Supportive of our Christian ethos.

Ideally, the successful candidate would be a practising Catholic, however, applications will be accepted from candidates of all other faiths.

ECT's are encouraged to apply. 4 days a week (0.8ft) would be considered for the right candidate.
