Teacher of Religious Studies job summary

Religious Studies has a vitally important role in the whole college curriculum at Newton Abbot College: to give students the opportunity to reflect on their own beliefs and ideas and develop a knowledge of and respect for other people’s views. It is a core and compulsory subject at key stages 3 and 4 with all students taking a full course GCSE as well as being very successful at A level. This is an exciting time for the department and the successful applicant will support the new Head of Department in developing Religious Studies across the key stages. We are pleased to be recruiting large numbers again at post-16 and this will be a particular focus in the next academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate who has a passion for teaching Religious Studies in a College where the subject is highly valued and supported by its leadership.

We are seeking an exceptional individual with enthusiasm, ambition and strong collaborative skills to join our Religious Studies department in the next phase of its development and beyond. Your challenge will be to teach high quality and engaging lessons, leading to high levels of student progress.

Are you:
- an inspirational, dedicated and forward-thinking classroom practitioner
- able to teach excellent Religious Studies lessons up to A Level (Philosophy and Ethics)
- committed to raising standards
- creative, conscientious and enthusiastic?

You will:
- be able to enthuse and motivate all students
- have incredibly high expectations
- demonstrate excellent planning, communication and organisational skills
- be an excellent team player
- believe that all students are capable of success.

If you think you can make a difference to our students and relish the idea of joining our successful, supportive and highly motivated team in the delivery of excellence in education, then we want to hear from you!

We, at Newton Abbot College (“Good” OFSTED April 2019), have exceptional expectations of our students and staff and we welcome applicants who share our commitment to place student learning at the centre of everything we do. Our induction programme is excellent and all staff are involved in an innovative CPD programme.
