Teacher of Religious Studies with Humanities
Main Scale - Full time - Permanent

Applications are invited from well-qualified teachers of Religious Studies with Humanities. This post is either suitable for an NQT or a more experienced teacher. A strong desire to motivate students and staff to achieve excellent progress is crucial in an environment in which “Pupils display a thirst for learning” and there is“…first-rate behaviour in classrooms and around the academy” (Ofsted, 2016).

The County High School, Leftwich is committed to building a team of exceptional teachers and leaders in a positive and supportive learning environment. There is a strong tradition of high quality induction and continuing professional development so the post can be adapted to suit an entrant new to the profession or a colleague with recent experience.

In 2019 students left the Academy with ‘Well Above Average’ progress – as measured by the Progress 8 calculation (+0.79). For the previous 4 years, progress has been at least ‘Above Average’.

Essential skills and experience

Successful teaching experience in a temporary or permanent post or on teaching practice.

Knowledge of effective learning and teaching strategies

Enthusiasm for Religious Studies and Humanities and the ability to generate this in others with a commitment to developing strength and depth in subject knowledge.

Ability or potential to use and interpret data to inform assessment

Good ICT skills

Ability to relate to teachers, other professionals, parents and students

Very good oral and written communication skills

Ability to relate to and promote the ethos of the Academy

Willingness to undertake training as required

Excellent punctuality and attendance

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Commitment to raising of standards and achievement

Ability to be able to work effectively as a tutor and to support whole-school initiatives and developments
