We are a split-site, rural, mixed 11-18 non-selective converter academy with approximately 1467 students, including over 240 students in our Sixth Form. We are situated centrally in Crowborough, on the outskirts of the Ashdown Forest, an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are close to Tunbridge Wells and the South Coast.
At Beacon, we are proud of our culture of unapologetically high expectations which we have worked meticulously to achieve. This culture is underpinned by our uncompromising belief in our students and our high ambitions for them. You will be joining a loyal, skilled and effective team, where leadership, management, behaviour and welfare have all been judged as outstanding.
We secure excellent outcomes for our students. In 2017,2018 and 2019, Beacon Academy has been the number one school in East Sussex for the Government’s headline measure Progress 8. In 2019 our progress was 0.97, which placed us in the top 1.6% of schools nationally. As a non-selective, non-denominational, non-fee-paying school, we are delighted to have received this confirmation, once again, of our high-ranking position. This placed us in an esteemed group of 6% of schools nationally who are categorised as well above average for three years in a row. We know this is a clearly a result of our vision and our determination to consistently provide the best possible education for all of our students, and to become an exceptional school for our community.
We have been a National Teaching School and National Support School since 2017 and most recently we have been designated as part of the Beacon Partnership to deliver the Chartered College CTeach Programme. Our Headteacher, Ms Robinson is also a designated National Leader of Education, a Consultant Headteacher for East Sussex County Council and a member of the South East Ofsted Reference Group.
