Teacher of Science job summary
Are you an outstanding teacher with the passion and motivation to inspire young people? If so, then you will not want to miss out on the opportunity to be appointed as a Teacher of Science at our high-performing College, where students make progress that is above the national average.
Why come to Latimer? This is a fantastic school to work in: as a result of our success and popularity we are over-subscribed and have a very strong positive reputation. On interview we ask candidates for their impressions of the College and without fail they comment on how wonderful our students are, the supportive team ethos amongst staff and how friendly and welcoming the College is.
We are a tight-knit unit striving for the very best for our students and we are focussed on and passionate about learning.
We genuinely care about our staff, their well-being and their professional development: we are a happy team, committed to working collaboratively and sharing the very best practice. This was very much recognised in our most recent Ofsted inspection, where we sustained our Good rating.
If you need any more persuasion to apply, we are the proud owners of a brand new Science Learning Centre: imagine teaching in a brand new, state of the art classroom!
If you are an outstanding teacher it really is worth applying for this post. We are seeking to appoint a candidate who is passionate about engaging our students in the awe and wonder of Science and inspiring them to be inquisitive and curious about the world around them. An ability to teach a specialist Science subject at A Level is desirable, but not essential.
We welcome applications from ECTs and we run a highly supportive and successful Early Career Framework programme. If you are a trainee and looking for a post from September 2022, we would love to hear from you. We also have a strong track record of leadership development and succession planning and would be interested in an ambitious candidate who is keen to progress to leadership in the future.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
The Latimer Arts College values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.
Early applications are encouraged as we will review applications as we receive them; and applicants may be contacted before the closing date.
Commitment to safeguarding

The Latimer Arts College is a thriving, high performing school where we place no boundaries on ambition, no limits on aspirations and no barriers in the way of achievement. Together we share one key aim: to secure outstanding achievements for each individual by delivering excellence in all that we do. We are very proud of our students and to us, every child really does matter: we work tirelessly to make sure that each of our students feels valued, makes progress and achieves personal success so that they can be the best that they can be! And we are fulfilling our commitment this! For prospective new staff, this is an exciting time to be joining the College and contributing to its future success. We have approximately 1130 students aged 11-18 who are nurtured through their education in a purposeful and caring community ethos based on respect for all. We strongly value inclusivity and meeting the needs of individuals: we have a dedicated Student Support Team offering additional well-being support to those who need it. As a Performing Arts College our commitment to the arts is strong and there is always something stunning going on in our Masque Theatre: you might see a rehearsal, stumble across an impromptu performance in the foyer or be part of the audience at an evening concert. Expect the unexpected and the amazing - because that is what you will get! We value the contributions that our staff make to student outcomes and support them with being able to meet our high expectations through a co-ordinated performance management system for both teaching and non-teaching staff, with professional development at its heart.
