Teacher of Science (1 year only) job summary

Dynamic Teacher of Science required from January 2025.

Full time. One year only in the first instance.

We are seeking a well-qualified teacher to join our vibrant Science department. This position would suit an experienced teacher or an ECT. Parklands has a bespoke ECT/RQT programme in place and at every stage you will receive high quality, comprehensive CPD and support from your colleagues who will coach and guide you through any continued professional development. Staff also benefit from access to the UK’s leading provider of corporate healthcare cash plans provided by UK Healthcare, a cycle to work scheme, out of hours access to our gym facilities and much more.

Parklands High School, part of the Aspirational Futures Multi Academy Trust, is a popular, over-subscribed and high-achieving school. This is an opportunity to work in a friendly, supportive, well-resourced and forward-looking environment.

The science department is forward thinking, creative, innovative and supportive of change and new approaches. Science staff teach in 8 modern, well equipped laboratories, we have three prep rooms and are supported by a team of three technicians. The science department aspires to deliver engaging, contextual and challenging lessons that will excite students about the subject and prepare them for GCSE and beyond.

We are looking for a teacher of science who is inspired by the opportunity to work with colleagues who genuinely want to improve the experiences and outcomes for all students in their care and create a curriculum which inspires and enables students to perform at their best. Improving the quality of teaching and learning is at the heart of our school; we run extensive CPD programmes and weekly departmental Quality of Education meetings in order to provide support and challenge so that the quality of teaching at Parklands is as good as it possibly can be.

In return, staff in our trust benefit from:

• a culture that actively promotes a positive work-life balance

• a culture that promotes well-being initiatives

• access to UK Healthcare (https://www.ukhealthcare.org.uk/) helping staff with the cost of everyday health expenses such as visiting the opticians, paying for glasses, dental treatment and even paying for prescriptions, up to agreed policy limits. Employees can also claim an allowance for hospital admissions, whether NHS or private, access telephone counselling services and receive a discount on gym membership to keep them fit and motivated for work.

• opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities and school trips (varies from school to school)

• an open-door policy, allowing any colleague to speak with a member of their Senior Leadership Team without an appointment

• excellent relationships between the Trade Unions and the trust schools

• Free access to our state-of-the-art gym before and after school, as well as during school holidays (Parklands High School only).

Please apply online and include a written statement of no more than 2 sides of A4 in which you outline your experience and suitability for the post.
