The Role

We are excited to offer the opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our dynamic Science department. The successful candidate will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, engaging pupils in the fascinating world of scientific inquiry, helping them develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of the world around them through the lens of scientific discovery. Applications are welcomed from both Qualified Teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are due to qualify in Summer 2025.

ECTs will benefit from a tailored support package, which includes mentoring and professional development opportunities to help you refine your teaching practice.

The successful candidate will have the chance to inspire the next generation of scientists and receive the guidance and resources needed to support this.

Key Responsibilities

Enact the carefully sequenced Science curriculum by planning and delivering purposeful and effective lessons, skillfully adapted for the pupils in each class.

Foster a love of scientific inquiry, encouraging pupils to explore scientific concepts, ask questions, and apply their knowledge in practical and real-world contexts.

Develop pupils' practical science skills through engaging hands-on experiments and investigations that balance theory with application.

Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual learning and development.

Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring all pupils feel valued and empowered to succeed.

Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance Science teaching practices, share resources, and ensure consistent delivery across Key Stages.

Contribute to the wider school community, supporting extracurricular opportunities such as science clubs, STEM initiatives, or other enrichment activities.

Stay up-to-date with developments in Science education and bring innovative ideas to the curriculum and the rest of the team.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).

A passion for teaching Science at the secondary school level, with an in-depth knowledge of the curriculum.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage pupils.

A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to the wider school community.
