What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join our Science team on a full-time basis to start in January 2025. This role is suitable for both ECTs, who would benefit from a comprehensive range of support and guidance, and more experienced teachers alike.

The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire our pupils with outstanding and engaging teaching. Our students are a delight to teach, and we foster an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.

The successful applicant will be joining an already highly successful department with both combined science and the separate sciences amongst our highest attaining subjects. In 2024, combined science achieved outstanding results. In combined sciences, pupils achieved of 76%/70% at Grade 4+, 54%/41% at Grade 5+, and 12/8% at Grade 7+. Our separate sciences achieved 100% Grade 5+ across all three sciences, and an average of 51% at Grade 7+ across all three sciences, with Physics achieving a high of 63%. This success was built on a department truly committed to continual improvement in all areas, especially the curriculum and teaching and learning, with the focus on all improvements impacting pupil outcomes.

The Department currently follow the AQA exam board course at GCSE level. Teaching within the department benefits from a strong team of specialist teachers who have all contributed to the department's rich curriculum.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be committed to supporting all pupils to achieve their “Personal Best”
  • Be an excellent teacher and able to teach science to GCSE Level
  • Have excellent interpersonal leadership skills, underpinned by a firm vision for the teaching of science.
  • Be forward thinking, visionary, receptive to change and able to work under pressure.

We are open to applicants who may be looking for part time work as well as applicants looking for a full-time position.

You will join a highly successful and well-resourced Maths Department where the focus in recent years has been on consistency of approaches, creating a productive and effective department where we have the belief that all children will achieve their potential.
