It is an exciting time to work with the Science team, with large numbers of students choosing to study the triple sciences at GCSE, along with ever-increasing numbers of students studying the sciences at A level.

  • Focus on STEM: be part of our fantastic team of staff who aim to inspire students through a focus on careers, educational visits and talks that integrate within the science curriculum. The department plays a full part in the academy’s role as Lead Careers School for Bucks ( and an Area of Excellence recognised nationally by Challenge Partners)

At KS3 a broad range of science topics are taught to provide the foundation knowledge required for success in the sciences. At GCSE we follow the AQA Triple Science and Trilogy Science courses. At A Level, Biology and Chemistry follow the OCR A specifications, Physics follows the AQA specification.

The Science department works closely with our excellent careers team to take the lead in a wide range of STEM opportunities for students. Recent experiences include:

  • Year 9 trip to GE Healthcare

  • KS3 involvement in the GirlsGetSet STEM programme

  • Year 9 and 10 Johnson & Johnson STEM day

  • A level trip to Reading University

  • PPMA Best Virtual STEM Day

  • GCSE Science Live! trip

  • A level Education in Action trips

  • A level Biology field trip

  • Year 7 visit to The Big Bang Fair
