About the area
If you are local, you might have heard of Oldham, but if not, you may not know much about the town. Oldham is the gateway to Manchester City Centre, one of the most vibrant cities in the country, well known for its nightlife, entertainment and shopping. You can travel from Manchester to Oldham by train, tram, bus or car in well under 30 minutes. As well as the bright lights of Manchester, the local area is well known for its outstanding natural beauty. As well as being the gateway to Manchester, we’re also the gateway to the Pennines. Saddleworth Moor, Tandle Hill country park and Daisy Nook are on our door step. Accommodation is also readily available at some very competitive prices. Manchester City Centre has an abundance of high-quality apartments, all a stone’s throw from the amazing night life.
What could you earn?
Money talks. We recognise how expensive it can be, particularly if you are relocating to the area. We really want to help you settle in to life in the area. Whether you are relocating or not, we would like to offer you a recruitment and retention payment. We can discuss a level that will work for you whilst you are on interview. In addition, if you are a chemistry and physics graduate, you are highly likely to be entitled to up to £6000 from government as part of the DfE’s levelling up premium payment.
About the role:
We are looking to appoint a teacher of science to work in our flagship science faculty. This is suitable for those looking for their first role or those with experience. We have an excellent reputation for professional development and enabling colleagues to progress their career with us. The team of people you would be joining deliver strong outcomes in the subject and have an excellent reputation in the area and beyond.
Managing the well-being and workload of staff is something taken extremely seriously by the Principal, having taken steps to reduce unnecessary burdens and bureaucracy. These actions were rated highly in the most recent staff survey, which takes place on annual basis. Staff describe Hathershaw as “a great place to work”. We really want you to have a life outside of the classroom so that you can enjoy everything the area has to offer.
If you want to know more about the role, please contact Vicki Sainsbury, PA to the Principal, on vs@hathershaw.org.uk
