What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Science who would enjoy being part of a forward thinking Science Department.
Cranbourne’s Science Department delivers Science to all, we follow the AQA GCSE Specification and offer triple science along with combined trilogy. Science enjoys good engagement from students in all year groups. Our examination results are strong, as the excellent teaching inspires groups to achieve well. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, who has drive, passion and commitment to our school.
This post would be suitable for an ECT seeking to start their career in a caring and supportive environment or an experienced teacher. Please note that we may hold interviews before the closing date.
What the school offers its staff
Cranbourne is a good school with a committed staff, a diverse student body and a friendly and supportive atmosphere. We are on the threshold of “outstanding” and are expanding due to our increasing popularity and number of students. Cranbourne has a continual focus on improving subject specialist teaching and achievement; and we encourage staff to work with a high degree of independence. The subject is housed in a specialist suite with fully equipped labs which includes a staffroom and two prep rooms for our Science Teachers. The Science Department is supported by two Technicians.
Our staff are a real team and work together to improve the life chances of our students. We therefore need a self-motivated and reflective teacher who has strong interpersonal skills and is an excellent team player.

Cranbourne is a welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school in the heart of Basingstoke. The school is situated in a leafy suburb, close to the town centre on a large green site, with excellent facilities, including extensive playing fields, specialist arts, media and design workshops as well as a large indoor swimming pool. We also benefit from specialist vocational teaching in Hair and Beauty and Sport and Music. The school’s core purpose is to meet the needs of each individual student. We are proud of our GCSE results, and our specialist unit for the teaching of students with dyslexia.
