What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you a passionate and inspiring Science Teacher looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? The Ecclesbourne School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a supportive team on a temporary maternity cover basis which is expected to last for the full academic year. We are keen to hear from Early Career Teachers or teachers with a proven track record of delivering high quality science education – and for the right candidate there may be a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) as Head of Chemistry available.
About the role:
- Deliver engaging and innovative science lesson to students across Key Stage 3.
- Deliver engaging and innovative chemistry lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5 (if you have a proven track record of working with GCSE and A level students or are keen to progress to teaching exam classes).
- Foster a love for science, encouraging curiosity and critical thinking in our students.
- Collaborate with a supportive and forward-thinking science faculty.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in science or a related field.
- Can deliver high quality science education.
- Is passionate about inspiring young minds and creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Possesses excellent communication skills and organisational skills.
- Is committed to professional development and continuous improvement.

The Ecclesbourne School aims to provide a first class education in a happy, well-ordered and purposeful atmosphere. We are a non-selective school and committed to an inclusive community ethos. We challenge all our learners to achieve their best.
The school is set in the village of Duffield, in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire. It is centred on the western bank of the River Derwent at the mouth of the River Ecclesbourne. Duffield is within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Area and its elevated surroundings are the southern foothills of the Pennines.
The school’s sporting facilities include an all weather surface, grass football, rugby and hockey pitches, netball courts, tennis courts, a large sports hall, a sprung floor dance studio and a fully equipped fitness suite.
Our English block contains twelve state of the art classrooms along with a theatre with tiered seating for up to 240.
Our Sixth Form Centre is a place of relaxation and study, with classrooms, a communal area, a deli bar and access to pastoral support.
