What skills and experience we're looking for
- QTS
status
- Good classroom practitioner with evidence of setting appropriate expectations to promote learning and to engage and motivate students
- Ability to use strategies that improve understanding of Science
- Ability to encourage and maintain a good standard of discipline in the classroom through well focused teaching, positive relationships and good classroom management
- Ability to use appropriately a range of teaching and learning strategies for whole classes, individuals and groups which stimulate, challenge, engage and motivate students
- Ability to set clear and appropriate targets, feedback to students and make use of assessment information to promote each student’s attainment and progress, and to plan future lessons
- Ability to reflect on one’s own practice
- Ability to differentiate tasks appropriately
- Secure knowledge and understanding of the knowledge, concepts and skills in teaching Science at KS3 and 4
- Able to give positive and targeted support to students with special educational needs
- Determination to produce the highest quality learning experience for all students

Walsall Academy in Bloxwich, Walsall opened in September 2003. The student enrolment is 1390 with 1060 in the lower school and a further 330 students in the Sixth Form. The School is one of a number of City Academies established in England prior to the expansion of the Academies Programme in 2010 and was originally sponsored by The Mercers’ Company of the City of London and Thomas Telford School.
We are a founder school in the Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust.
