The Role
Fernhill School are seeking to appoint an innovative, dynamic and highly motivated Science teacher. The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner and a strong team player with a keen interest in developing pedagogical practices.
All three disciplines of Science are taught in KS3. Currently in KS4 Core Sciences and Separate Sciences are taught. This is a cohesive, friendly team, whose outcomes compare favourably to national figures.

The Science Department
The Science department is a strong and improving department, teachers and leader have worked tirelessly to drive up standards of achievement and attainment. The department comprises of a Head of Department, Assistant Head of Department, and two main scale teachers. They are a cohesive team and have a strong command of their subject. Science is enjoyed by students.
The department is housed in five well equipped laboratories. All rooms are equipped with Smart interactive white boards and all staff have a laptop or iPad. There is a ‘prep’ room and a communal area.
The Candidate
We are seeking a candidate who will be ambitious for our students. A passion for developing young adults is essential: this entails a commitment to all learners, to excellence for all, and a belief that a good school can and does make a significant difference to learners’ life chances and levels of attainment.
You will:
• be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement
• demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students and have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning across the department and the whole school
• possess the communication skills necessary to operate at the level required of the post, with the full range of stakeholders
• demonstrate a strong desire to maximise your potential and challenge yourself through effective and personalised CPD
