The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well qualified and ambitious Teacher of Science as a maternity cover, to join a vibrant and happy school where staff are committed to raising student attainment.
St Cuthbert Mayne School is a Joint Roman Catholic & Church of England School that welcomes all students from across Torbay and South Devon regardless of their faith background. Our school community is made up of students and staff from Christian and non-Christian backgrounds.
There are currently 909 on roll, including 138 students in the Sixth Form. The teaching accommodation is of mixed age but well-resourced and maintained.
It is an exciting time to be joining the school as we start the next phase of our journey to provide an outstanding, inspirational and challenging Christian education for all students. Our children only get one chance!
The latest Ofsted Inspection in November 2016 graded the school to be good, in every category. The statutory inspection of Anglican/Catholic Schools also conducted in November, graded the school to be good in all areas. Both reports can be found on the website www.st-cuthbertmayne.co.uk.
The ability to teach Chemistry would be an advantage as well as teaching up to Key Stage 5.
At KS3 we have an excellent provision with in-house schemes of learning based upon the National Curriculum, supported by newly purchased Activate text books. Our KS3 finishes in Year 8, at which point students choose their options. Students can opt to take AQA Triple Science, or will follow the AQA Combined Trilogy specification. We support all students in considering to stay on for A Levels. We follow the AQA course for Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses in Key Stage 5 and are looking to expand this offer to include BTEC Human Biology.
STCM is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS), references and other employment checks.
