Teacher of Science job summary

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Science specialist to join our successful Science Faculty in our highly successful, partially selective school. You will have a passion for Science and the skills to engage students across the age and ability range.

The successful applicant will be able to teach all of the science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) at KS3. At GCSE, staff usually teach within their specialism. For suitably qualified or experienced candidates there may be the opportunity to teach their specialism at A Level.

Science at Parmiter’s attracts a large number of students to the Sixth Form and there will be 17 A Level Science teaching groups next academic year. We are proud that many of our students go on to study Science related degrees. We teach in a new, purpose-built Science block with 12 high-specification teaching laboratories and are supported by specialist technicians.

We welcome applications from teachers looking for either a full-time or part-time role. If you are interested in part-time, please ensure you state this on your application and indicate your preferred contract (e.g. 0.6, 0.8 etc). The role is suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

Parmiter’s coordinates CPD for the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training and offers a robust induction programme. We can offer the successful candidate:

  • July 1st start date for ECTs with a comprehensive programme to support the Early Career Framework and bespoke CPD to suit your career goals.

  • Focus on Staff Well-Being with an online GP service, Employee Assistance Programme, complimentary use of the on-site Fitness Suite and an on-site subsidised electric vehicle charging point.

  • A high-quality and well-resourced teaching environment with highly talented and engaged students.

  • An admission policy prioritising the children of staff (a qualifying period may apply).

  • Lovely school grounds in leafy surrounds with ample parking.

Parmiter’s is an exceptional school and all colleagues share a passion for educational excellence in every area.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the school website and social media accounts for more information. Candidates are welcome to contact admin@parmiters.herts.sch.uk to arrange a visit to the school or to arrange a discussion about the department and the role before application.

Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of staff to share this commitment. Applicants must declare any criminal convictions as the post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointments will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service and references from previous employers. We are required to conduct online searches for shortlisted candidates in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance in order to identify any incidents or concerns which are publicly available online.
