What skills and experience we're looking for

Educational Attainment

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Graduate in Science or related discipline
  • Any additional qualifications relevant to the post.

Work Experience

  • Successful completion of secondary Science school experience at KS3/KS4.
  • Any further experience working with young people in and out of school (e.g. youth work, summer schools, overseas work)
  • Experience of teaching Science at KS5

Professional Development

  • Evidence of keeping up to date with NC developments in Science.
  • Involvement in courses covering generic issues e.g. thinking skills, assessment, SEND, more able, EAL

Knowledge/ Skills/ Aptitudes

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Science syllabus up to AS/A2 level
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proven teaching skills.
  • Good record keeping/monitoring of work.
  • Sympathy with the school mission statement.
  • Able to work as a team member.
  • Able to motivate other people.
  • Commitment to ongoing developments and improvements.
    • Use of ICT as a teaching aid/resource.
    Willingness to support extra-curricular activities.
