Teacher of Science (Physics or Chemistry Specialist) - MPS/UPS job summary
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard working Science teacher ideally with a Physics specialism, but we would consider an excellent Chemistry specialist too. We would be delighted to receive applications from ECTs as well as more experienced teachers; it is your values, commitment and potential that we are most interested in. We pride ourselves on providing lots of support and plenty of opportunities for professional development for colleagues at all stages of their career.
The Science faculty is a large team of specialists with a good balance of experience, who work very well together. Facilities are good, with well-equipped labs for all lessons. Perhaps more than any other team in the school, the Science department have improved significantly in recent years. Results in 2019 were securely outstanding in both trilogy and separate sciences (overall value added score = 0.63; 83% gained at least two 9-4 grades; 67% gained at least two 9-5 grades). We have high numbers of students opting for separate sciences every year at KS4, as well as a good uptake for each of the three sciences at A’ level. The sustained improvement over the past few years is no accident; it has come about through strong faculty leadership and a willingness on the part of teachers to engage with an agenda built around delivering a rigorous, inspiring and ‘knowledge-rich’ curriculum to all students.
