Scalby School Scarborough
Scalby School is a successful and popular 11-16 community school based in picturesque seaside town of Scarborough on the North Yorkshire Coast. We currently have approximately 1000 students on roll. In recent years we have become the school of choice in our local community. Our P8 score in 2024 placed us in the top 14% of schools nationally.
Our students are diverse, exciting and talented – and the same is true of our staff. Our Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Scalby School, Scarborough for the position of Science teacher within our science department.
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, talented and inspiring classroom practitioner to teach Science across all ability groups in KS3 and KS4. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate our ambitious and hardworking pupils.
Early Careers Teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/ECT) will also be considered for the role, and support will be provided.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning.
Experience in teaching GCSE Science
Understanding and applying effective classroom management.
A relevant teaching qualification
Understanding and applying a range of teaching strategies.
Positively targeting and supporting individual learning needs.
To undertake professional duties as delegated by the Headteacher.
To implement the aims and objectives of the school/trust and to understand and work within school/ trust policies to achieve these aims and objectives.
Our Trust
Coast and Vale Learning Trust is a growing family of schools located on the beautiful Yorkshire Coast. The Trust was founded by Scalby Secondary School but has grown over the last few years to include Newby and Scalby Primary School, Friarage Primary School and the Scarborough University Technical College (SUTC) in Scarborough and Lady Lumley’s Secondary School in Pickering.
