- Full time: 0.8 FTE Permanent (This academic year: Four Days Per Week) Main/Upper Pay Scale (£22,396.56 – £34,942.63 pro-rata [0.8FTE], depending on experience) Upper Wharfedale School honours any existing Main Pay Range/UPR payments. Applications welcome from ECTs or more experienced colleagues.

What skills and experience we're looking for
- Create and establish a climate which enables students to develop and maintain a positive attitude.
- Raise standards of student attainment and achievement within Science and monitor and support student progress.
- Deliver high quality lessons which meet the needs of all students, including those with SEND and the most able.
- To ensure that all lessons are delivered in line with the departmental schemes of work and school policies.
- Work with other staff within the Science Curriculum Area to set appropriate targets for all students, using a range of data (including levels of progress, ASP, CATs,etc) and monitor progress towards these, with appropriate and timely intervention when necessary.
- Work with colleagues in the Science Curriculum Area to formulate plans which have coherence and relevance to the needs of the individual students and to the aims and objectives of Upper Wharfedale School.
- Ensure there is development of students’ literacy, numeracy and ICT skills through the subject.
- Ensure that feedback is provided to students in accordance with the school’s feedback policy.
- Provide appropriate extra-curricular activities to motivate and engage students
- Implement and monitor agreed school policies and procedures, including those relating to the delivery of the cross-curricular themes, Literacy, Numeracy, Information Technology and Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Education.
- Maintain effective behaviour management and adhere to whole school agreed procedures including the Positive Attitude to Learning Policy;
- Take an active role in promoting the subject and whole school to local primary schools
- Ensure that Health and Safety issues are followed effectively and consistently
- Promote whole school Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Education throughout the school, including contributing to assemblies
- Play a full part in the life of Upper Wharfedale School; to support its ethos and to encourage all students and staff to follow this example.
- Model the behaviours of a professional at all times.
